Chef Satan - Connoisseur of Un-healthy Eating
Chef: Professional cook, educated, well trained to oversee kitchens and the preparation of food.
Connoisseur: Expert, master, professional. Person of authority
Satan: Devil, spirit of great wickedness, cruelty, deceit, Evil being
What is Satan’s responsibility of being the “head chef” of un-healthy food? He is responsible for destroying the physical body by attacking every area we function in. That includes spiritually, socially, and physically. Satan has created an epidemic through our food industry that has caused unhealthiness, obesity, and addictions that has created a concern nation wide. Would you agree that he is a very successful chef, and one that is well known? He and his staff have done an excellent job.
A Chef has people that work under them to fulfill the many tasks that are required for a successful business. Who would you say Satan employs? Am I safe to say one third of the angels that fell with him? They oversee the food industry making sure it properly functions. Using their chef creativity to develop foods that can destroy you and hold you in captivity and sin. What types of food do they oversee? JUNK!
Take a moment and think about our food industry. What we cook, where we eat out, how much we eat. Let’s pick apart his menu and examine it?
If Satan is the connoisseur of un-healthy food then God is the connoisseur of healthy Foods. We are God’s workers. He has appointed us to examine Satan’s menu. God has placed us in charge of overseeing, examining, testing, perfecting Satan’s menu. The one that feeds God’s people. Our goal: Eliminate the bad from the good. We are to make decisions on what is healthy to eat, and what is not.
End result: A healthy menu that includes foods designed to build and create healthy physical bodies that were created and designed by God Himself. God’s word gives us very clear instructions on what types of food we are to feed our body.
Daniel 1:3-16, “Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, who was in charge of the palace, to bring to the palace some of the young men of Judah’s royal family and other noble families, who had been brought to Babylon as captive’s. “Select only strong, healthy, and good looking young men,” he said. “Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good sense, and have the poise needed to serve in the royal palace. Teach these young men the language and literature of Babylonians.” The king assigned them a daily ration ob the best food and wine from his own kitchens. They were to be trained for a three year period, and then some of them would be made his advisors in the royal court. Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azarich were four of the young men chosen. The chief official renamed them with these Babylonian names:
- Daniel was called Belteshazzar
- Hananiah was called Shadrach
- Mishael was called Meshach
- Azarich was called Abednego
But Daniel made up his mind not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief official for permission to eat other things instead. Now God had given the chief official great respect for Daniel. But he was alarmed by Daniel’s suggestion. “My Lord the king has ordered that you eat this food and wine,” he said. “If you become pale and thin compared to the other youths your age, I am afraid the king will have me be-headed for neglecting my duties.”
Daniel talked it over with the attendant who had been appointed by the chief official to look after Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azarich. “Test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water,” Daniel said. “At the end of ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king’s rich food. Then you can decide whether or not to let us continue eating our diet. So the attendant agreed to Daniel’s suggestion and tested them for the ten days. At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the rich foods and wines.”
Notice Daniel made up his mine not to defile himself, and chose not to eat the King’s food and drink his wine. The word defile is defined as: Pollute, or make dirty. I like the word pollute. Pollute means to make foul or corrupt. I find it interesting that Daniel recognized what the King’s food and wine would do to his body. The King’s kitchen was being overseen by Chef Satan, and his crew was preparing the food.
Now when the children of Israel were being led out of Egypt their kitchen was overseen by God and He personally fed them daily what their bodies required to function healthy.
Deuteronomy 7:13, 7:15, He said, “When you arrive in the land He swore to give your ancestors, you will have large crops of grain, grapes, olives, and great herds of cattle, sheep and goats. And the Lord will protect you from all sickness. He will not let you suffer form the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but He will bring them all on your enemies.”
What are some of the food groups God gave them?
- Fruits
- Fiber (whole grains)
- Vegetables
- Milk
- Cheese
- Yogurt
- Meat
Wait a minute! Where’s the double cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate milkshake?
He also promised them protection from sickness and diseases. Good healthy Bodies!! Did Chef Satan give Daniel the same promise?
Exodus 16
Even when the children of Israel wandered for forty years, God fed them. Exodus 16:13 tells us, “The next morning the desert all around the camp was wet with dew. When the dew disappeared later in the morning, thin flakes, white like frost, covered the ground.” The carnal side of me imagines those flakes luscious, sweet, and dripping with hot fudge. Or maybe in the shape of a biscuit, smothered in Manna gravy. I’ll lay odds to say it was made from all the ingredients that our body needs to properly function. The only change God made was when the children of Israel complained, and God added quail to their menu. And I can guarantee you it wasn’t deep fat fried!
Exodus chapter 16 also tells us that God only rained down enough food for one day, except on the sixth day, and then He rained down a two day supply. So they gathered none on the Sabbath. Now if they tried to gather extra, in other words more than they needed, it would spoil the next day so they couldn’t eat it.
Exodus 16:20 But, of course, some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. By then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. However the food they collected for the Sabbath did not spoil for this was a day of rest from their normal daily tasks.
God provided a healthy, regulated diet. No more or no less than what their body needed for one day. What’s it going to take for God’s people to wake up and see what destruction Chef Satan is causing in our diet?
As a messenger from God, I say to Chef Satan, “Let God’s people go!” Then I encourage you the believer, to follow God trusting Him to lead you to a healthy lifestyle change. He will rain down food from heaven for you just like He did for the children of Israel. But we have to exercise faith, obedience, self-control, and no complaining! Take His hand and go on the best walk you’ve ever taken.
