Change Is Good

There are many good and healthy programs available for you to follow. Scripture tells us in Philippians Chapter 2 vs. 12; Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Since God tell us to care for both our body and spirit, what works for me to feed my body healthy may not work for your body. For example to burn an extra 200 calories might be easier for you than me. I may have to work a little harder, due to my age, metabolism, physical ability, and the same with calories. Everyone has to work their eating plan according to their body. God made each one of us individually. We are a heavenly creation. Study has shown that our bodies need a certain amount of all healthy things. Fruits, vegetables, fish, grains, dairy, good fats, and chicken, are foods we need to make a balanced lifestyle, along with exercise.

We all know the word MODERATION! In all things! My advice would be to make an appointment with your family physician, and talk to him about your decision to change your lifestyle from un-healthy to healthy. Seek his advice on how many calories you should consume a day, and then invest in a calorie counting book. Your local bookstore has many good resources. VERY IMPORTANT, journal everything you eat! If you have to write it down you might not eat it. This also helps you in realizing what and how much you eat in a day. If you take a bite of anything write it down!

I understand it is very difficult to exercise. I have been there, and some days I’m still there. Exercise requires discipline, and if you are over weight even walking is hard on your body. I cannot stress enough though the importance of walking. I know for a fact this helped me burn calories, and played a huge part in my success.

I am going to give you examples of what I eat in a day, and how I have designed my lifestyle change.

Breakfast: 1 cup of cereal. Regular Cheerios, or Kashi (the one with the most dietary fiber grams), sliced banana, 1 package of Splenda.

Mid-morning snack: a piece of fruit, one half cup of applesauce with one half cup of cottage cheese, 12 almonds, or fresh veggies.

Lunch: Nice helping of lettuce with fresh veggies, deli turkey, hard-boiled egg, dressing of virgin oil and vinegar. If I am still hungry I eat a piece of fruit.

After-noon snack: Slice of deli turkey rolled in a thin slice of deli cheese, apple, or 12 almonds

Dinner: Small helping of Fish, Chicken, or turkey, small baked yam or sweet potato, steamed veggies, a small salad.

Evening snack: one half cup of raisins, 12 almonds, one cup of cheerios, mixed together, or cut up fruit or veggies topped with yogurt.

I keep my choices very limited. When I get tired of eating a certain food I replace it with another kind. I also cleaned my kitchen of things like sugar, white flour, sweets, and chips. I just made up my mind I was going to change. No different than being addicted to porn. You wouldn’t keep adult material in your house. If you have a problem with alcohol you don’t keep your house stocked with booze.

If you eat several small meals a day, and do not allow your self to get to the point where your stomach growls you will succeed! Some days it will be hard. Take a deep breath, lick your lips, slowly exhale, rinse your mouth with mouthwash, bend over and touch the floor, leave the house and go for a drive, call a friend, but the best tool that worked for me. I talked out loud to God, and quoted scripture to Satan! I did, what appeared to some people a lot of talking to myself! Ha!
